The kids and I ventured over to Conner Prairie today because the weather forecast was PERFECT for it- sunny, 75 degrees, and just plain beautiful. It had been several years since we'd been there and thanks to Nali, we got a membership and will be going much more often now! Yay!!
First we explored inside the main building a bit...

They have a real hot air balloon ride but it won't be up and running for another month.
Instead the kids settled for this pretend one. : )
We spotted a guy up on the real hot air balloon...a worker told us they were doing some repair work on it because of the harsh winter we've had.
At the Lenape Indian Camp...
Love this...haha. He was watching a guy show someone how to throw a tomahawk.
The kiddos got to pet this five day old lamb, along with goats, baby chicks, and a calf.
We also saw week old piglets that were SO tiny. We couldn't pet them because the momma would NOT have liked that apparently.

The kiddos were asked to gather real eggs that were just laid today.
They delivered them to the cook in the farmhouse.
Man, they LOVED that.
Today's special event was this. The workers fired up this huge kiln (with pottery inside, way at the back). It was super hot, yet still not anywhere close to being hot enough to finish off the pottery. They said it has to get up to 3200 degrees! Wowza.
What a perfect perfect day there...the kids had a blast and learned so much along the way!
We spent the rest of the day outside at home playing around... the kiddos spent several hours making mud pies in the garden, and then we finished the day with a hot dog roast. Perfect indeed.
