Thankful.

Some days I just almost feel overwhelmed... with how much God has blessed us. Today I was reminded over and over again of how thankful I am for Eric and my two kids. We didn't do anything out of the ordinary today... but just time spent together was all I needed.

It was an extremely busy week full of way too many meetings. I felt guilty being the last mom to pick up her kids every day this week. As soon as we got home I had to start making dinner. After dinner it was bath time and then bedtime. Ugh. It just breaks my heart some weeks... the only quality time spent with the kids was the 90 rushed minutes from the point we get home until the kids are tucked into bed. That's not exactly my idea of quality time.

But this weekend was just what I needed. So thankful to have no plans (although Eric was out of town at a wedding all day Saturday). I'll admit... I'm never a big fan of "having plans". I love being-- home. I spent Saturday playing with the kids all day. And today was even better since Eric was around. I was reminded over and over again, about how thankful I am for my little family. Wouldn't have wished to be anywhere else today but here at home.

Much of today was spent tossing a balloon around in Sophie's room and crawling in and out of her cabinet.
We headed to Potter's Bridge this evening, one of our favorite parks. There are trails, a covered bridge across the river, a playground, and plenty of places for little (and big) boys to throw rocks into the water.
Where's Waldo... I mean Lucas? (He has his Bronco's jersey on... can you find him?) He and Eric are across the river on the shoreline throwing rocks. Sophie and I on a stroll... I couldn't believe how many leaves were already changing on the trees! It was beautiful. Relaxing... as usual.

Lazy Saturday afternoon...

Doesn't get much better than just hanging out on the porch with these two.

Piggies...

Sophie sported her first ever pigtails today. {sigh} I couldn't be more smitten by this girl.

Chattin' with Mama...

cute.

Must. Show. Off. Her. Cuteness! ...ready for church...
...the signature nose-scrunch...

Apple-pickin'...

Saturday we took our 2nd annual family trip to Stuckey Farms Apple Orchard. We roamed around the orchard picking all kinds of apples (our personal faves... honeycrisp!). Sophie perched up high on Eric's back. She was happy as can be just watching Lucas zig-zag through all the trees.
We even found a pumpkin that was already ripe!
Till next year... (although we may just have to make a return in October to get our pumpkins.)

At the carwash...

Here's how we spent part of our Labor Day Monday...

#5 (This is for you, Mel and Scott)

Tuba creation... #5. (AKA-His rocket launcher) And I have to add... every tuba idea he comes up with is absolutely his own creation.
And Sophie, on the flute (AKA- firefighter hose)

On a mission...

Sophie spends most of her days up on two feet now... I honestly think she LOVES this new found freedom. She roams from room to room, in constant motion... looking for new things to explore. But one thing stays constant... she almost always has to have something in her hands to "drag" around. And once she has her item of choice, she will NOT let you take it away... tonight... it was Lucas' underoos.
