Missouri Visit

We wasted no time after returning from our trip out west-- after a day of catching up on laundry and getting some rest, we hit the road to go visit our family in Missouri!

As always, getting all 8 cousins together is the best part.  The weather was great so they spent a lot of time at Uncle Kevin and Aunt Alicia's house, running around outside.  This time in particular, I got a kick out of the little games they thought up to play, the chants they chanted together, and the pure squeals of laughter as they enjoyed each others' company.

Ashley, Erin, and Sarah are raising bunnies so Lucas and Sophie enjoyed holding them- minus their sharp claws.

One morning, bright and early, Uncle Greg (The Ozark Legend) and Eric took the two boys down to the Lake to go fishing.
All loaded up and ready to head out in Uncle Greg's boat
Lucas kept begging to get in the water so after the fish were caught (too many to count!) the boys jumped in and enjoyed a dip in the cool water.
Every Friday, Ashley has horse riding lessons so just like last summer, she invited us to join and watch.  It was fun to see how much she's come along since last year!  After the lessons the kids all lined up in the horse barn and took turns taking rides.  Lucky kids!!

One evening we headed out to Papa Roger's house to grill hot digity dogs, do some fishing in the pond, take a dip in the water (the kids and Alicia...NOT me....), and enjoy root beer floats (below).

Very...verrrrry sadly, I failed to take pictures of my favorite and most memorable highlight of this year's trip-- Uncle Greg's Fish Fry.  But it wasn't just fish.  The following food items were fried (with the help of many people in addition to Uncle Greg): onions, cauliflower, mushrooms, hush puppies, wild turkey, pheasant, catfish, and spoonbill.  What a celebration of food it was! : )
