First things first. This picture.
This photo was taken in Dad's favorite breakfast spot in the dining room. Takes my breath away every time. It's truly what Montana is all about. I even hesitate to vocalize that for fear that others will figure it out and flock there. It's our little secret... :)
Quality time with Grandma and Grandpa... priceless. (Some favorite memories... making cookies with Grandma, "poundings" from Grandpa, Sequence/UNO games, bedtime stories, and water games to name a few)
Brother and sister bonding time... they truly love on each other and it's been fun to see that lately. They're little buddies for sure. When Lucas speaks to her it's often in a high-pitched voice. One afternoon when Soph woke up from her nap Lucas went up to her and said, "Hi sweet girl!" Melted my heart.
Throwing rocks at Clearwater Lake...
The key to a successful trip...
Below you'll find Lucas teaching Soph the ins and outs of fishing. Note his hand on her back the whole time.
A much needed visit from a dear high school friend...
Often in the evening, Lucas would hold press conferences on the "stage" as he called it (see below). He often reported on Ohio State's recent championships in wrestling, football, or basketball.
We also had the privilege of enjoying some beautiful hikes including Holland Lake Falls, Glacier Lake, and Clearwater Lake. Lucas was a trooper and did so well hiking most of the way on his own and enjoying the rest of it on Daddy or Granpda's shoulders. Sophie enjoyed the HLF hike from the comfort of the backpack which she LOVED (and came in handy on airport layovers!)
loved getting my feet wet in the streams... BRRr.... but oh so refreshing!
Another highlight was exploring around in Mom and Dad's property... spectacular views of the mountains and the Swan River...
A few other notables... coffee in Montana tastes wayyyy better than anywhere else... nothing beats a small town 4th of July parade... the fact that it's still fairly light at 10:30 is super cool but hard to make a punctual bedtime... and last but not least... no phones/TV/computers makes for one amazing vacation.
