Lots O' Videos

One last hoo-rah at the pool on Sunday. This time Eric joined... and got to see Lucas "in action". Here's Lucas doing a "cannonball" off the diving board. If you listen carefully you hear him yell, "Camden-ball". I didn't feel like correcting him... :)

Here's our little Zombie taking steps towards the Baby Einstein video. She's walking around SO MUCH lately. Especially these last few days... 10-12 steps at a time even!!!

Sophie...blowing her beautiful kisses. And Lucas... trying to get in the way.

This and That...

Swinging

Lucas is going to get a lot of face time on this post... so Miss Sophie gets first pic dibs...Once lil' sis went to bed tonight, Lucas and I headed outside to swing (Eric was at a football game). While I swung on the rope, Lucas showed off his goofy side on the regular swing. Here are just a few of the many action shots I got.

Bath time...

The bathroom is typically drenched from ceiling to floor after these two take their baths... but who really cares, right??

Who doesn't LOVE a fresh and clean baby girl.... doesn't get any more perfect than this.

Lucas...

Mom mentioned this to me earlier this week but I hadn't really thought much about it until today. Lucas has really been putting together a lot of thoughts into sentences... sometimes complex things... that just blow my mind.

For example. Tonight, he and I were playing around with his ambulance. He looked at me and said:

Lucas: Hey Mom! Do you remember when we were over at Ashley's house (cousin) and you were in the kitchen making dinner with her mom? And Ashley and I were looking out the window across the street at an ambulance? We saw a girl go in the ambulance who was sick. I wonder if she's still sick?

I just stared at him. Shocked. First of all, it's impressive that he remembers back to that incident!! Second, wow...

Fun memories...

Grandpa Fielitz made this marble roller... so as you can imagine, it's pretty special seeing Lucas having a blast with it. I've already shared lots of stories with Lucas about his Great Grandpa while we've been rollin' the marbles. In this picture below Lucas said the marbles are "timing out"... (just like the basketball players do)

Big sigh.

Today has been just plain wonderful. After a very long and exhausting week for all of us... we enjoyed a little family time today (and some of us got in TWO naps!!!)

The boys did a little shopping... and came home with a new pair of basketball shoes...

Lucas is especially proud of the "swoosh". He calls these his "swoosh shoes" and claims that when basketball players wear them, it makes them run faster. Umm...And Miss Sophie did a bit of shopping herself. Lovin' the chair she picked out for her birthday (from Grandma and Grandpa....thank you!!!). She LOVES it. Hopped right on!!

First day of school...

Lovin' Sophie's back-to-school outfit!!! Thanks, Nali!!!
Notice the sippy cup in almost every picture these days? It's turned out to be Sophie's best pal... she LOVES being a big girl and drinking from the sippy. Why didn't we start it earlier?!?!
And Lucas chose to be a baseball player the first day of school. Eric and I have to laugh a bit every time Lucas wears this shirt/shorts. We literally stared at this outfit at the store for 20 minutes trying to decide if we should buy it. We both loved this baseball T and shorts...but it was a little bit more than we like to spend on the kids' clothes (probably b/c it has the "swoosh" on it). So we both decided to splurge a bit... and it's turned out to be Lucas' favorite thing to wear.

Catchin' you up...

Yes, definitely a great catch... wouldn't you say?? :)Check out the tool box Lucas and Daddy made... Fixing his bike
Sophie hopped right on... and loved the ride around the grass.
Sophie has recently enjoyed climbing up on chairs... and checkout the cute hair-do!!
Don't worry... I'm close by! :)
***PS... I just added a few more pictures to the bottom of the previous post.

Summer's end...

The end of summer break is upon us (actually it is now officially past us, considering today was our first day of school). We packed last week full of...well pretty much everything we could think of... just to soak up the last few days. Here's what we came up with.

Makeshift drum sets... played by brother-sister duo... Lucas and Sophie Bland.

A little visit from our best buds, the Nolleys... all the way from Colorado Springs!! :) Here are the kids playing in the pool... Joshua will be 4 this month and Miss Abigail will be 3 in January. Umm... can you say, cute kids??!! Becca... SO GOOD to see your sweet face. Can't wait to hear about the arrival over Baby #3!! You're such a pro at this... Not sure why we waited until the END of the summer to enjoy this blessed spot. Carmel's Monon Center... AMAZING. If you live around here, it's a MUST!! There's a wee little pool for the babes, lots of slides (big and little), a lazy river (awww yeah), concessions (double awww yeah), etc. etc. The list goes on. This place has it all. And of course, Lucas was in his element. Loved every bit of it. Splashin' through the "geysers"...

I had the delight of watching Sophie's buddy Graham one morning last week... which was just pure enjoyment for me. These two were in the same TOTS class last year... and are bound to be buds since their older brothers are best buds. These two had a blast together.
Come over again real soon, Graham!!
Last but not least... we also squeezed in a little community outing as well, before the school year started up. The first Friday of every month is "Jazz Squared" on the square downtown. A band plays jazz music and the town shuts down some of the streets for a few hours... pretty fun. We all enjoyed the music, Lucas watched mesmerized, and Sophie bopped up and down. The night ended with a trip to Alexander's for a big scoop of ice cream!!! That's my kid of night!!

At attention.

So... this was all Lucas' idea. My mom is singing the Star Spangled Banner in the background while Lucas and I are lined up (before our "basketball game" of course) with the players. He calls it the "lining up" song. And asks for it to be sung to him before bedtime. As you can see, he takes this basketball thing pretty seriously. :) What impresses me is how much he picks up on when he watches games... amazing.

The stats on Sophie...

One year info:
weight: 18 lbs.
shoe size: 3 (ish)
diaper size: 3
teeth: 4 on top, 4 on bottom

Favorite things/things to do: her new baby doll, sippy cups, water/milk, her pink elephant that she sleeps with, Lucas' blankets that he sleeps with, balls, water (swimming, bathtime, hoses, etc.), banging things together to make noise, playing peek-a-boo (especially behind curtains), clapping and scrunching up her nose and making sniffing sounds(It's hard to explain... but this is her trademark!!), climbing into drawers, copying those around her

Words she's said so far: mama, dada, ball, bye, uh-oh, night-night. She's also copying words we say... if you listen closely you can hear it, even though the average person wouldn't be able to tell what she's saying.

A few new things she's been doing: climbing up on small chairs, turning around to get down off of the couch, kissing goodnight and blowing kisses, pointing to things she wants, and taking steps! Yes, yesterday she took her first steps and she did it quite a few times today as well. For all of these things listed... she has such a big proud smile on her face when she does them... it's as if she knows she's accomplished something big.

Personality: I know I say this a lot, but Sophie truly is a happy joyful girl, pretty much all the time. She loves to be around people she's familiar with, especially her big brother. She gets right up close to him and wants to get right in the action, which he usually lets her. Sophie doesn't cry much... lately it's only when she wants to be held or if I take away a sippy cup that she has, which she usually finds Lucas' that is filled with water. (If we let her, she'd drink water all day long!!) Sophie is pretty content to play on her own for little bits of time, but still prefers to have me in sight while she's playing.

Favorite Foods: just recently, milk! (Lucas never really enjoyed milk at her age at all so this is new territory for us!), black beans, cheese, pasta, mac and cheese. These are just a few. She hasn't been known to turn down too many foods. It's been pretty fun being able to feed her everything we're eating these days... love that!!! Also, I'm still nursing her in the morning when she gets up and right before bed.

Routine: Sophie wakes up around 6:45ish, we do the breakfast thing soon after Lucas wakes up (7:15ish), the kiddos play together...we sometimes take morning walks outside before it gets too hot, and then she's ready for her morning nap around 9:00. She sleeps about 1 1/2 hours or so...sometimes up to 2! After lunch she (and Lucas) takes another nap from about 1:00-3:00. She goes strong until about 8:00 and then it's off to read a few books, sing a few songs, and then bed.

Love love love this baby girl. We're having such a fun time raising a little girl, just like we have enjoyed raising Lucas. What I love the most is that they are their own little people. Very unique... yet they come from the same mold. Does that make sense? Oh parenthood. How I love thee. ;)

My little "sweet sweet"...

As mentioned in a previous post, Sophie's first birthday was this past Saturday... it was a fun fun day, (despite the gloomy rain). We spent the morning playing around the house...

Sophie just crawled on over and sat right on Lucas' lap...Lucas picked out Sophie's present... her first baby doll... she loved it!!
Then we all headed out to the Farmer's Market and to our favorite - the Uptown Cafe where we enjoyed breakfast for lunch! Sophie kept stealing mine... but being the Birthday Girl, I couldn't refuse her. She enjoyed some french toast and ham (have I mentioned she's eating 99% real people food now??!!)

After naps for everyone, we played some more and then headed out for our good buddy Caden's own birthday party at Forest Park. Believe it or not, it was actually COLD so my little sweet sweet sported her Babylegs for the first time since Spring. We had a good time wishing Caden a happy birthday and playing at the park. The next day, we threw our own little party for Sophie...complete with these delicious cupcakes. Lucas had the hardest time having to just LOOK at them for so long. Special thank you to Nali for the cupcake holder!

Sophie was quite thankful Grandpa made the quick trip down to see her for the party.

Happy birthday, to our sweet sweet!!
